The natural tanning
Leather is also treated with methods based on the methods of the ancient tanneries of the Marche hinterland, where raw hides were tanned in large drums with water and chemicals derived from vegetable extracts, the tannins, which transformed them into leather. Modern technology puts itself at the service of ancient knowledge. The times of tanning respect those of tradition to create a natural and ecological product.
No toxic substances, just water and vegetable tannins obtained from plants or from the bark of trees such as oaks, acacias, chestnuts and birches to treat the raw skin making it soft, durable and waterproof, and to give it the typical brown color that changes over time. Tannins also that give leather its particular appearance, different from other types of tanning, and that give it the typical scent of leather. No animals are killed for the vegetable tanning. The skin of animals intended for slaughter, ennobled by a long processing, is used to create footwear ensuring full respect of the environment and the ecosystem.
